FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAY 2024

(St. John’s, NL) Eagle Flight Network (EFN) and C-CORE announced today that they have entered into a MoU to advance both company’s interests in the satellite ground station services business. Under the MoU they will work together to build a robust industry-led satellite ground segment in Canada.

EFN is an Indigenous owned and operated business based in Calgary, Alberta on Treaty 7 Territory. Since being formed in 2020, EFN has actively pursued business opportunities in the space sector with a focus on Ground Stations as a Service (GSAAS) as the growth area.

C-CORE has been providing applied R&D and solutions for nearly 50 years to defence & security, energy, and environmental stakeholders. C-CORE currently owns and operates two satellite remote sensing ground stations in the Arctic and sub-Arctic.

EFN and C-CORE will work together to build a third ground station in Canada owned by EFN that will integrate with C-CORE’s current stations. The combined network allows EFN to leverage existing capacity for early revenues and provide increased capacity for new clients.

“This initiative puts EFN on the global stage for providing GSaaS services. Our vision is for a network that ultimately includes communications ground stations in addition to the remote sensing ones” says Scott Brass, CEO of EFN. “It also supports an early revenue generation for EFNs evolving business plan. This MoU gets us off the bench and into the game!”

The market for remote sensing services and the ground segment to support those services has grown significantly over the past 5 years and the trend is forecast to continue. There are many options internationally. But in Canada this network is the only Canadian industry led option making it uniquely well positioned to support Canadian startups in the space sector, Canadian government initiatives, as well as international satellite operators that require an expanded footprint in Canada.

“We are extremely proud that EFN has chosen to partner with C-CORE to market this growing ground station network” says Paul Adlakha, C-CORE Business Development. “We’ve been in the ground station business for over seven years now and during that time our business has grown substantially. This initiative allows us to provide our clients with more options for their growing ground station services needs while allowing both companies to pursue new markets.”
