St. John’s-based R&D Company renews its leadership
St. John’s, Newfoundland (24 May 2018) – C-CORE, a St. John’s-based R&D company specializing in applied research and technology development for harsh environments, today announced the appointment of Paul Griffin as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 4 June 2018. Mr. Griffin succeeds Mr. Mark MacLeod, who has served as interim CEO since April 2017.
Mr. Griffin comes to C-CORE from Marine Atlantic, where he served as President and CEO since 2011 and prior to that as Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Affairs. He brings extensive senior management experience, particularly in technology industries, having served as Chief Operating Officer of Avalon Microelectronics, President of Rutter Technologies and President of NewTech Instruments.
“After a comprehensive search process, the Board is pleased to have found the best individual to assume leadership of this world-class R&D organization,” said David Oake, Chair of the C-CORE Board of Directors. “Paul has an outstanding record of successful leadership in the technology and marine transportation sectors, building sustainable relationships with diverse stakeholders in the public and private sectors. He has significant experience working with organizations that have capitalized on opportunities enabled by new technologies, regulatory changes and evolving markets, both at home and abroad. We believe that Paul’s background makes him the ideal person to lead C-CORE successfully into the future.
“On behalf of the C-CORE Board, I also want to thank Mark for his exceptional leadership over the past 16 months. During his tenure as interim CEO, C-CORE has strengthened its internal processes, established new lines of business and conducted its first-ever strategic branding exercise.”
Of his appointment, Mr. Griffin said, “I am excited and honoured by the opportunity to lead this extraordinary organization, which has for over 40 years been at the forefront of innovation to support safe, cost-effective and environmentally responsible operations in harsh, remote environments. I intend to help C-CORE build on its impressive contributions to the research, academic and business communities, provincially, nationally and internationally.”
