Top 1% Scientist Worldwide

Congratulations to Dr. Masoud Mahdianpari on being named to Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list for the fifth consecutive year.

Masoud, AI Principal at C-CORE, was recognized in the 2026 edition in the single-year impact category for 2025. He is among the top 1% of scientists worldwide across all fields. In his subfield, Geological and Geomatics Engineering, he ranks 639th out of more than 82,700 researchers. He also ranks fifth among Memorial University’s engineering researchers on this year’s single-year list.

His work combines artificial intelligence with satellite Earth observation to address large-scale environmental challenges, from wetland mapping across Canada and the Arctic to sea ice monitoring. At C-CORE, he leads the application of AI and remote sensing to practical problems for government, industry and research partners. He is also cross-appointed as a professor in Memorial University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Five consecutive years on this list reflects sustained, high-impact research and the strength of the collaborative teams behind it.
