Position Overview

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to and completing complex design solutions by applying principles of mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and electrical engineering. You will operate within a collaborative team environment, requiring effective communication with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient design, fabrication, and operation of equipment. Additionally, this role provides vital engineering support across the entire organization whenever hardware fabrication is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support (including design, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and operations) as required for a variety of projects across the organization.
  • Update and maintain 3D CAD models of assemblies and individual components, and generate detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Research and identify potential vendors for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts and raw materials, and assist in preparing technical specifications.
  • Conduct literature and state-of-the-art technology reviews to support component design, and assist in evaluating concepts and prototypes through calculations or physical testing.
  • Draft technical documentation, including assembly instructions, user manuals, test plans, and maintenance procedures.
  • Take part in client meetings, contribute to project reporting, and effectively communicate project challenges, risks, and schedule status.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree required.
  • PEGNL Certification (Engineer in Training).
  • 1 year of experience in mechanical, structural, electrical, or instrumentation systems engineering, including developing designs, fabricating, installation, and operations.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering, hydraulics, fluid flow, structural analysis, and machine component design.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design software applications.
  • Hands-on ability to complete laboratory and shop work, including fabrication, mechanical and electrical assembly, commissioning, and test execution.
  • General knowledge of geotechnical engineering, electrical engineering, instrumentation design and use, as well as data acquisition.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in standard office environments, laboratories, fabrication shops, and field locations.
